I registered with ornitho.de but did not receive a password by email. When I tried to register again, I received a message saying that the email address was already registered with ornitho.de. Did I do something wrong?

I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
No problem: you can request a new password on the home page. Directly below the input field on the home page, you will find the link ‘I have lost my password’. This allows you to request a new password in no time at all and then change it to your liking in your personal settings.

Does ornitho.de work with all browsers?
We strive to support as many browsers as possible, including older versions. However, we recommend CHROME to all users. Ornitho.de runs flawlessly on this browser. If you (have to) use a different browser, we recommend using the most recent version possible. If you encounter any problems, we would be grateful if you could report them to ornitho@dda-web.de with as much detail as possible about what exactly is not working and which browser you are using. We will then try to help you as quickly as possible.

What are cookies good for?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and allow ornitho.de to identify you. They are used to store your email address and password if you select the ‘Save password’ option. They are also necessary to identify you from page to page and to provide you with personalised suggestions, e.g. about the places you have visited. If you do not allow ornitho.de to store cookies on your computer, ornitho.de will not function properly.

I have enabled ‘Save password’, but would like to remove it again. What should I do?
It's very simple: log out, go to the home page, leave the fields for your user name and password blank, activate ‘Remember password’ and then press ‘Login’. This will reset everything.

Why do I need to register?
All persons who wish to actively participate in ornitho.de must register by name. We use personal data to contact reporters if necessary, for example to consult with them about questionable observations. This data is protected against unauthorised access. Your information will be treated confidentially in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations.

Why do I have to provide my e-mail address when registering?
It serves as your user name and for contacting you, e.g. if we need additional information about an observation or need to send you important information. It is important that you use a valid email address. Otherwise, the registration will not work.

Can the same email address be used multiple times?
No! The email address serves as your username and must therefore be unique.
